How do in-person sessions in the DC area work?

I'm based in Greenwich, Connecticut, and I travel to the Washington area for in-person sessions: offices in the District itself, across the river in Arlington, out in Tysons and Reston along the Dulles corridor, and up in Bethesda.

The intro call is where we pick a date and agree on what's in and out of scope, which matters more in Washington than most places because of what your organization is allowed to put into AI tools. On the day, I come to you, and we work through real material for two hours or a half-day.

If a visit is hard to arrange, or your building is difficult for guests to get into, the same session works remotely over video with your screen shared.

What do Washington executives use AI for?

Washington's private sector is shaped by the federal government: government contractors across Northern Virginia, trade associations and nonprofits downtown, law and policy firms, consultancies, and the health research community around Bethesda. Leaders in these organizations write constantly, for members, agencies, boards and the public, and they read more regulation and guidance than almost anyone. That's where a session puts the tools to work.

  • Working through a long solicitation, rule or guidance document that's already public, and pulling out requirements, deadlines and open questions.
  • Drafting a member update, a policy summary or testimony talking points from your notes, in a voice your audience trusts.
  • Reusing your own past proposals and capability statements as a starting point, where your company's policy allows it.
  • Preparing a board of directors or executive committee meeting with a short pre-read and a list of likely objections.
  • Summarizing news and policy developments on a topic with sources you can check, before a meeting on the Hill or with a client.
  • Writing the difficult internal note: a reorganization, a lost recompete, a change in priorities.

How else can you learn AI in Washington, DC?

University programs. Georgetown's Certificate in AI Scenarios for Strategic Decision-Making is a short online program on using AI in strategic planning, a good fit if a structured course and a certificate matter to you.

A workshop for your leadership team sets the same baseline and the same rules on sensitive information for everyone. If you need that, we can scope one on the intro call.

Free training from the AI providers and self-paced courses are good for basics if you'll practice on your own time.

One-on-one coaching differs because it's built around your documents and your organization's rules, with me watching how you work and correcting it as you go. For costs and formats side by side, see my comparison of executive AI training options.

Common questions

Straight answers, the way I'd give them across a table.

Yes. I come down from Greenwich, CT to meet executives at their offices in the District, Northern Virginia and Bethesda. The date goes on the calendar during the complimentary 30-minute intro call.

$1,000 for the 2-hour Deep Dive and $3,500 for the half-day Intensive, in person in the DC area or remote. The intro call is complimentary and comes before any payment.

If you want the leadership team trained together, bring it up on the intro call. We'll scope a workshop around your team's work and your organization's rules on what can go into AI tools. Individual coaching for senior leaders can follow.

It depends on your contracts and your company's policy, and that's a question for your contracts and compliance team, not for me. In a session we only use material your organization allows in the tools. Public documents, such as a posted solicitation, and your own non-sensitive drafts are a natural place to start.

Yes. Arlington, Tysons, Reston and Bethesda are all part of my DC travel area. Tell me where your office is on the intro call and we'll plan the session there.
